“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing …” (John 14:12) Jesus’ ministry while on earth was people. They were real individuals with faces and names with true hurts and tender hearts. When Jesus saw Mary and the Jews that accompanied her weeping over the death of Lazarus, He was deeply moved in spirit. He was troubled and He wept. (John 11:32-44) Jesus saw the hearts of the people and continually ministered to their needs in order to show them His Father. The Samaritan woman, with whom Jesus spoke, experienced His unmerited kindness in the midst of her hurting and soul searching. (John 4:7-30) By speaking with the woman and asking her for water, Jesus showed her the answer … His Heavenly Father. Jesus once again exemplified the fact that there is never any reason for a Christian to be unkind.* Our lifestyle should be one of:
Listening and caring for each person we encounter.
Touching individual lived.
Ministering one on one.
If we are Christians, if we are called by God, we must be in the people business. The process of making a difference one person at a time enables us to grasp the true concept of Jesus’ words when he said to us: “…He will do even greater things than these because I am going ot the Father.” (John 14:12)
If your first response is, “There is no way I can do more than Jesus. That’s impossible!” then think about the following …
How old was Jesus when He died? What is your life expectantcy?
How many years did Jesus’ ministry encompass? How long have you been a Christian?
How many people did Jesus personally choose as disciples? How many people do you touch daily?
What was the distance Jesus covered while walking through the Holy Land? What are your travel boundaries?
Personalize John 14:12. Make the decision to make a difference.
The Lord brings individuals to us. Jesus demonstrates this as He is praying for the welfare of the disciples in John 17:6-9. “I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me.”
As we use the power of the Holy Spirit, we too can make a difference in the lives of all those we touch. Who has the Lord lead you to today?
